Just thinking that not all members are perhaps understanding these short abbreviations. Is it a possibility to have a section in the menu system to allow members to look up the abbreviation. ta muchly

A good question. They are a sort of shorthand for text junkies that has infiltrated to the general internet. I understand a few of them but I now just put it down to laziness and move on to the next post.

A completely different meaning when I was at school!

3/10 mark for spelling though, with the comment "Must try harder!"

I have spent a couple of enjoyable evenings with French friends who understood some English tring to work out reasonable sounding French acronym translations of Fubar, Snafu etc.
It proved to be impossible in most cases as FADDTC (foutu au delà de toute reconnaissance) for example does not roll off the tongue but we had a lot of fun trying!

Seeing that list, I'm sorry I suggested it FFS. Forget the whole thing, I would hate to encourage such nonsense.

Usually, if someone doesn't recognise an acronym, they ask what it means, so bumping up the post count

These are not acronyms, but abbreviations. They are not pronounced as words
acronym /ˈakrənɪm/ noun an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word (e.g. ASCII, NASA ).

People seem to think that abbreviations or acronyms are a new thing invented by the millennials.
( Eg, The Romans called their empire SPQR)
BTW, the UK is not in the EU or the EFTA, but is in NATO along with the ROI, USA, as are several other countries in EMEA since WW2.
