Was 16 and bought 'Meatloaf and Stoney' album in 1971. On a Motown label. He was going for it well before Steinman spotted him. Mates thought I was a bit bonkers. Wrong type of music they said. In later years when I listened to Meatloaf, so did my neighbours. My kids, now in their thirties, know every word of the Bat out of Hell album. As do their children. Me, Mme Merlot and my boom boom box headphones are going to do him justice tonight. Great performer.

He was one of my husband's favourites. Yes, RIP Meatloaf. I don't think he had much peace in his lifetime.

Sad news, but also sad it appears he died of Covid and had some anti vaccine/anti masks opinions which given his co morbidies may not have been a good thing

Check out the 1978 Old Grey Whistle Test performance of Paradise by the dashboard light. So brilliantly OTT.

Just ordered 2 copies of Meatloaf and Stoney...never heard it before so it will be interesting, one is Motown and one is Rare Earth with different tracks, so i think there must have been a US and non US version.......

Can't remember what happened to my album, JD, I think I recall a posed Victorian sepia photo. I was a strange child, I also bought Osibisa in 1970, Afro Rock was not well known then. Ayko Biayay (Deffo spelled wrongly) was a favourite of mine. Hope you like the 50 year old Meatloaf album
