After my wife picked me up from the hospital the other day at 5 in the morning and while driving home, she stopped suddenly and reversed, saying, "Was that someone on the ground back there?" I hadn't noticed anything, even though it was on my side of the road. It was a rubbish bin on a lamppost that had been knocked over and spilled its contents, though in the dark it did look a little like someone lying on the ground.
Obviously she wouldn't hesitate before checking, I'm not sure about me.

Not least that in the 21st century, in the capital city of a wealthy country, a human being, alive or dead, lying in the street, is an accepted sight. Any town, any city, any country.

Shocking but not hard to believe this happens now.

Its not surprising if someone goes on a 'night walk', falls over and is not seen for 9 hours. If I did that in my location I could easily be unseen....
