Bad news, wordle has been sold to The NY Times because the inventor has been ‘overwhelmed’ by its success. The NYT is now considering charging customers for using it. Would you carry on participating if you have to pay for it ?

There are plenty of free versions on the Apple App Store (and android I assume) they aren’t called wordle but if you type in Lingo you get get exactly the same games and you aren’t restricted to just one game per day.

It isn't bad news for the inventor.

I play wordmaster and it's fine .. but, IMO, it doesn't have as sophisticated a vocabulary as wordle. Also it has no personalised back-up. There is not quite the same 'feeling' of success or failure with it. But it's attractive, does what it sets out to do and is ad-free .. all pluses 😊

I wouldn't pay to play, as others have said, there are other online versions. All a modern copy of a board game from years ago, most will remember Mastermind with the colour codes, they also made Wordsworth for five letter words.

Definitely no. As it is I only get to play it every other day as I take turns with Biggles.
