Yes I know everything is going up yesterday we spent 108 on diesel which did not fill the tank on my van. Empty this morning but did do a long drive. This morning they say house insurance is going to rocket next year. How do people cope if your on a low pension. Trouble on the streets soon?

Have been doing very few miles of late, largely thanks to covid so not yet feeling the fuel pinch too badly. And last winter I used significantly less gas than expected. Which means I have been cushioned against the rises thus far.

I don’t think there will be too many protestations this year as energy price rises have been capped to 4%.

Leclerc locally is selling petrol and diesel at cost price today; amazing queues at the pumps.

Diesel prices are bad around here as well but we are using a lot less these days. Nothing to do with Covid at all. Just not having to go very far very often. We filled my van and mrs. A's car end of last summer. Mine still has about 3/4 tank and hers is down to just over 1/4 full. Just to help matters generally we have knocked our insurance down a bit by agreeing to limited mileage per annum and it doesn't seem to be any inconvenience at all. And they haven't asked for the readings to prove we are staying under the limit. I have an idea I spend more money on petrol for the ride on mower, etc. than I do on diesel.

We drove for 13 hours between yesterday and dropping of a trailer today out of that tank of diesel. I wanted to fill the tank as I had a large trailer on the back and the old bmw so did not want to try and get into a petrom station all loaded up. I stopped filling it at 108 euros it was still not full I have never paid as much as that trying to fill a tank.

I have been planning my rallye and course de côte events for the year. Travel costs certainly are heavy, towing a car. One hillclimb will be around €350 fuel and péage costs, before the entry fee and hôtel costs. At least that one is 7km of closed road.
