All domestic hot water systems in France should be closed mains pressurised be they ballons or combi boilers, both types give balanced hot & cold water to the shower at mains pressure. There has never been a need for shower pumps unless a P&O builder/renovator has fitted a UK header tank type hot water system. My good man they are available in France although never fitted one. Most of the big stores have them. We prefer The suein56 type. www.manomano.fr/catalogue/p/triton-t80gsi-douche-electrique-sfx8009gsi-42404442The OP and myself in my reply were speaking about Electric shower pumps not self contained electric heated shower units.

the shower in the bathroom upstairs is feebler than the shower in the shower room downstairs. Even so my OH loves the rain effect of the shower head upstairs. I don't know why I didn't see it before, the rain effect or waterfall shower heads pass much more water so do not give the "stinging" spray jet of a normal shower head.
If you swapped the shower heads you would then prefer the shower upstairs although it will be slightly less effective being 2.8 metres higher.

I was going to point that out to you 😃 .. but you have grasped what I meant. Actually I prefer the shower room downstairs .. I chose the showerhead.

rain effect or waterfall shower heads also have a hand held attachment ( most do).
The replaceable shower head is also easier to remove soap from long hair then the rain effect or waterfall shower heads & normally has 2 or 3 settings

The OP and myself in my reply were speaking about Electric shower pumps not self contained electric heated shower units. My mistake l thought we were talking about electric showers and dodgy ferry builders.

I am now thoroughly confused.
JD started by asking about pumps to increase the water pressure and then changes to a regulator to reduce it. So which one is it?

@ JohnnyD, everything you always wanted to know about your Franco Belge Optima 3000, see these specifications. About shower heads, rain or drizzle, there is something to read on the website of Leroymerlin, about le débit de votre chauffe-eau gaz. Once empty, only cold water, it takes some time before your warm water is back. The same as with the familiar chauffe-eau electrique à accumulation, the electric boiler.
