Since the Suez canal debacle, Evergreen keep practicing running aground. The Ever forward (ha.ha) has been stuck on the mud since March 13 (was that a Friday?). Attempts to refloat have involved dredging out some of the mud and towing with 7 tugs, next attempt, if it fails will resort to offloading, first fuel and then some of the 11000 containers, although the lastpart seems to be very time consuming, as if being stuck on the mud for nearly a month isn't time consuming enough. P&O should take note of the results of incompetent crews. Sorry the link is in Dutch, but for you multilinguals, no problem. Photo is good though. www.schuttevaer.nl/nieuws/actueel/2022/03/31/ook-zeven-sleepboten-krijgen-ever-forward-niet-los/

The never forward has now declared "averij Grosse" a maritime law that allows the shipowners to request the cargo owners to help pay salvage costs. Of course, if I had a container on board they could stuff it. It is down to crew error even if the pilot made the mistake, the captain should take full responibility. Winds are offshore and water is low so they are on the mud for a few more days or weeks.
