I was walking with my wife on a lonely woodland path. We came to a spot where there was a hooded youth seated with his head on his knees. My immediate thought was drugs. Having my wife with me and thinking he might be aggressive and of our safety, I decided to avoid him and walked away. But since, I have been concerned that I should have asked him if he was OK. What would you have done?

I would've asked if he was OK. Potential suicide?

In the past I would have asked him if he was ok, but not in todays world, I would have ignored him, mainly as you dont know what reaction you would get, hopefully a nice simple yes, but if on drugs etc you may get the sort of reaction you would not like.

I would have asked providing there was sufficient distance between us.

I had the privilege of knowing Ray (Butch)please listen to this: I recall hearing it ‘live’ on Talksport and it still gets the goosebumps going. I watched many times him play for Chelsea and Man U (not QPR) , never met him personally infortunately but he seemed a top man. I wonder what he made of the disaster against The Bees ? Come on you Spurs.

The son of our friend lost his best friend to suicide last week. He was only in his early 20s and his mother found him hanging in the barn on Sunday. He had a history of mental health problems but had been rescued from the brink before. I like to think I would have stopped to ask if he was okay

Seaboots, Ray was a genuinely nice man, so much so I know of no one who had a bad word to say about him. At his funeral, apart from his family there were so many players, ex players, players and officials from England as well from all over the World who came to pay their respects to him.

I am with rabbit here - looking for a parking space in an underground car park in Toulouse last week, found one but there was a body lying in it. Hooted but no movement. Stupidly, and ignoring the cans of drink nearby, I approached him to see if he was ok. No movement on a nudge of my foot. Thinking he was dead, I turned away, when he suddenlt grabbed my ankle.... if he was not ill before he did that, he certainly was after...

I would have asked if he was OK.
But I am young enough to do that.
Above a certain age, I would have walked for reasons already given.
You could have informed the police municipale/nationale of your concerns I guess.
