No change, I came back from Greece a couple of weeks ago via Stansted
Just the normal semi automatic passport scan
Having spent several hundred on tests and filling out the plf, it was slightly disappointing that nobody looked at it

But I assume you were checked before the carrier let you on the plane. Typical government action. Push the responsibility down the line and if it goes t1ts up you have someone else to blame. Much the same as with mask wearing which is now in the hands of enterprises to decide if masks arerequired or not.

On and off throughout all this there has been spat going on between the Home Office and the unions representing the Border officials, from what I’ve heard mainly around manning levels and how staff testing positive and their surrounding bubble of fellow staff members are handled.
There was a threatened strike in the spring that got called off but it seems the grumbling continues and this latest leak is probably another manifestation of the unrest.
And as exile rightly points out a lot of the checking of compliance with Covid precautions has been offloaded onto the transport operators…

Yes indeed, the airlines (under international convention) are heavily penalised for allowing people to fly without the correct documentation.
I do have some sympathy for the border control staff, whatever country. Sitting in a plastic box all day with thousands of potentially infected people coming past each day.

TBH I have some sympathy for the front line Border officers but it’s doesn’t extend to their management….
The problem with HMG offloading extra requirements, as they have done in the last year, is that it has definitely generated extra work, hassle, and (from what I saw last spring and from what I’ve heard more recently) possibly conflict with customers for some front line airline staff and yet there’s rarely any back up or obvious presence of uniformed officials (Border or police), especially during the check-in and pre departure process.
