Has anyone put this to the test yet taking a dog out to France with a French pet passport? If so what paperwork was required if any, does this definately avoid the £200 plus UK vet paperwork every trip out? What medications are required each way doing it like this?

JD, our dog is actually French and has only had EU passports and no we didn't need a health certificate to get into France, just make sure all jabs are up to to date and visit your French vet as before, prior to returning to the UK.

How many trips have you made this year and were they all dog problem free border wise?

JD, we have travelled twice this year with Bentley, his rabies vaccines is in his passport, two years ago he had a blood test and as long as we keep his vaccines up to date the clear blood test is valid, the passports are scrutinised by BF in Portsmouth on the way out and in Caen on the way back but all good so far. Hope that helps, it is my wife that makes sure Bentley is compliant, I just do the driving

We went out in June with the expensive documents and while we were there asked our vet to help. The only complication was to register the microchip with the French system. This took three weeks and cost nine euros. We picked up the new EU France pp before returning. The rabies record had to be entered by hand though it had been done in the old UK pp by the same French vet. She recommended that we carried his old pp as back up. The full test was the whole trip in September when we used the new pp. outward on BF was the same as always. Just a chip check. Coming home was also uneventful with the normal worming visit to the vet and the same old routine. Nothing changed at Caen for the BF checks.
