My van goes in for it's emmission test on Friday the last two tests it passed but close to a fail. I bought this over ten years ago and it's been fairly reliable and been driven for about 125000 miles, it came with about 80000 and cost 5000. Today I bought an air filter and oil filter. Then went onto google, special tools needed Being NASA machine tooled trained I angle grinded a socket extention to fit and used a lump of wood and hammer to remove the oil filter cover. Looks like they needed changed it still drove okay. air filters special tool

Changing headlight bulbs in modern cars, also interesting.....Spare parts department: a Scania Vabis temperature meter, date of birth 1960, still in working order and easy to install, if you still have such an old truck.

Mysty, I amsure you know but anyway... give the van an Italian tune up on the way to the CT station. That will certainly improve your chances for the emission test.

Will do but I thought the oil change and filters might help or that was a waste of 70 euros It has no blue smoke or anything like that.

Coincidence.
I thought sometime this summer I'll give our unfashionably old peugeot vehicles some fresh oil and filters. Had a grope around the shed and found a couple of filters. Off tomorrow to find the best price on the oil. The bonnet on the wife's estate has been unopened for so long the safety catch has rusted solid. Thankfully judicious use of a long screwdriver shifted it. While shifting the hazelnut shells and leaves from the motor I spotted the little sticker with the mileage (KMage) recorded when I last changed the cam belt. Dated 10th Jan 2012. Its done just under 77,000 km since then. I guess I really should do it again but as I recall it required a lot of physical contortions I might not be able to do now in 2022.
Looking on the bright side, I won't need a laptop to do any of this stuff.

Not a lot of kms, might be some age degradation, I would just remove the cover and inspect the whole length of the belt paying particular attention to the root of the inside toothed face.
I stretched my MK1 Octavia to 225000 miles, when a few reinforcing cords became exposed and I was snipping off loose ends I knew the time had come!!!!
This car is on 110000 miles, time for me to do another visual check.
