I would have prefered a proper garage door the wooden ones were not much cheaper than your one, central heating pipes run across the ceiling in the garage about 40cm from the door so the up and over would not have cleared them. The steps are at the side and were home made but as you can see all the steps were different sizes and the floating ones had no fixings just put on wet cement

How to render in cold weather, I checked Mr Google who said not possible. So with last nights bath water mixed with radox muscle relax and some anti gel I did one wall with sand lime and cement. Its all set already and we are still above freezing will see how it is tomorrow before I do the other walls. 12 euros in materials cheaper than getting an artisan plus he would not have used my recycled water. If you click the pictures they get bigger

I see what you mean about the steps!! The enduit looks really good on the mur pignon beside the steps. Your challenge, should you accept it, (think Tom Cruise ) is to get the same finish on the boundary wall

Fitting a window that is too heavy to lift from the basement. I found a local labourer who could not move the window with me so he got the farmer who was delivering wood a couple of houses further up to lift the window with his machine. The following morning the two of us managed to lift it into place which was a good cardiac and back test.

Why did you not dégondée it and refit the vantails after the frame was in place?
I refit them keeping all the transit packers in place before foaming the frame in place, without the packers the foam can distort the frame.
I dont use pattes de scellement any more, too much damage to the decoration, I have adopted a French window fitters tip of using a tourniquet on each corner to hold the frame in place for the initial fixings using radial slices of car inner tube and 2 short battens.

The hinges are not like the brico ones there are no screws anywhere there is a locking bolt at the top which I could not get to move and the bottom hinge has some kind of hex key. I got a hex key to fit it but even with a bar to put pressure on it it would not budge if the windows lifted off it would have been simple to fit. Would I buy them again yes far superior quality than brico depots and they have a six point locking system not that anyone would come through that window as its too high from the ground they would just kick in the plastic bricodepot front door.

Probably just as well, they have so many different hinge adjustments in 3 different axis' that you could well have been moving one of them, I took the door off my porte fenêtre but it took hours of patient adjustment to get it back fitting like when I collected it, had there been someone around to help me I would have left it in place.

All done just going to get a coat of paint as soon as we have a couple of good days. Just over 14000 for a complete renovation, 4 bedrooms 1 and a half bathrooms I am sure we should get our money out of it.

One might ask why a local person did not snap it up?

One might ask why a local person did not snap it up? They can buy it now, they could not have bought it before as it was a tax office sale.

Surely the sale was open to anyone who could put up the cash?
