Unlike his British counterpart he is not taking a free holiday from his billionaire party donors or meeting Russian spies after a NATO meeting.

I'm not a great fan of Manu but you just can't compare the two.

The Daily Mail says ... Good grief. If the Mail was a proper newspaper, regardless of it political bent, it would be crucifying the UK government on behalf of it readers. Is Macron on a jet ski really a story. Of course he'll be criticised. It's how opponents fill their time and compensate for electoral failure.

Now come on, be fair. I distinctly remember our Roi, sorry, glorious Prés, recommending that we eat pulses, rice and grains instead of meat and fish protein. Right. So he and Brigitte live on f***** lentils and chick peas? I very much doubt it. But that's nothing to do with the Daily Mail...

I do but without the f****** sadly!
I had the best ever vegetarian Buddha Bowl falafel salad tonight from a brave and forward thinking French marchand, they have been doing great business despite being sandwiched between burger frites sellers.

Some of you are missing the point. If the minutiae of a political leader's life becomes the focus it generally means he or she is doing OK in the general scheme of things, much to the chagrin of his or her opponents and detractors.

I'm sure you did, and that he is, given the demand in Dordogne from the Brits for vegetarian food. But that's all about choice, isn't it? Being forced to substitute frankly inferior sources of protein because meat and fish are unaffordable isn't about choice. Anyway, enough thread drift Have a good day, stay cool....

Well risking steering back off course, I was surprised to find one of our restaurants had 2 vegetarian dished (1 of which was vegan) on it menu of 5 main courses. It is a bit of a tourist area but this was before the season started so I think your comment about veggie Brits may miss the mark a bit. More and more the French are embracing vegetarianism - and just to make the point further, there was nor real price advantage in taking a non-meat choice.

Since we’ve moved here we’ve noticed more and more veggie options on menus. We have veggie friends who come every year and it’s getting a lot easier to eat out apart from just pizza places. I see more veggie options in the main supermarkets now too…

It's the retired Colonel Gussets of Tonbridge Wells and their ilk that will make the choice. The poor people will get their say at the next GE.
