Trying to keep ahead of the decorator who is painting the outside of the house, Biggles today moved an old wooden planter away from the next wall to be painted. Underneath, amongst the rotten wooden base of the planter, were 4 beautiful creatures.
We thought they were lizards, but 5 minutes on Goggle revealed that they are Marbled Newts. I took photos but still haven't mastered how to load them from my Android phone to the forum. Two of them had a bright orange stripe along middle of their bodies and the others didn't. Apparently it's females and juveniles who have this stripe. But the older males were a quite colourful green/black too.
We've always had common wall lizards and the occasional salamander, but didn't realise we had newts too.

I took photos but still haven't mastered how to load them from my Android phone to the forum. V. I finally cracked it by downloading an App on the phone called 'Lit Photo' which will reduce the pics to a size acceptable to this forum.
As long as you can access the forum on your phone it's pretty easy to post pics. Take photo using phone, open Lit Photo app & choose pic & reduction required. The App will resize the photo & show it in your photo file with the size in KB (must be less than 1,000 or 1 Mb) Using forum on phone compose post & go to 'Add Attachment on post & add this resized photo using 'place in line' etc. Check all's well in 'preview' & send. Hope this helps

We found one the other day in the turn-up to my partner's gardening trousers (memo to self, or rather partner, hem them properly!) It must have goneinthere while he was kneeling doing weeding! Not such an expotic specimen as yours though Veem
