If you rely on income from the UK the exchange rate is bad just now.

If you rely on income from the UK the exchange rate is bad just now. But, don’t forget, there are the sunny uplands of Brexit to look forward to.

We listen to LBC radio while having breakfast every morning. The exchange rate is announced hourly at the end of the news.

Since the UK banks have dumped the Brits in France , it doesn't matter anymore , you get the rate on the day that the money is deposited in the French account.

Wrong. My pension goes into my UK building society account and I don't suffer the exchange rate until I transfer it to my French bank. Timing of the exchange is therefore in my hands.

Mysty really is 'Mr Bleedin Obvious'.
Moving to a country with a different currency is always a risk if you're reliant on one income stream.

That's interesting. I thought all building societies had to rid themselves of "foreign" investors. Both of mine closed my term deposits and that was that. Do you have an english address with yours? Which society ?

Not yet, curtis. Nationwide haven't given Brits the brush-off yet. I'm hoping that they have so many customers over here that they'll find it worthwhile to keep them

Santander will not now however allow you to open an account without being UK resident.

I ran out of time on this removal visit (just got back from 20 hour door to door drive) but I need to sort out my UK bank accounts as I will no longer have a UK address in 2 weeks time, Santander said it would not be a problem but I suspect because the proceeds were to go to them, I also have a Nationwide account since a child, now a Flex account, its sole use is to recieve and send back funds to Santander 123 account so I meet the requirements for what is now a pittance of interest.
It's good to hear that I may be able to maintain that account and also the credit card which is a standby.
Just my luck that the pound has dropped, was it by much?
