Whilst I've been fortunate, my FIL has not. He 'paid in' for 50+ years and retired before 2016 when the pension was increased so he gets the old lower rate whereas I'll get the new rate having paid in 15 years less!

I have just been studying that, it seems that even though I am only 10 qualifying years short I have to purchase 15 years to get a full pension.

Bear in mind that currently the DWP/IR are dealing with post from May. My wife is still waiting for further paperwork after responding to a request for further info in June, hence now back down the pile.

Ye Gods! British bureaucracy used to seem so efficient compared to France. Thanks for the heads-up, LPT, hope she gets it sorted soon

Thanks, I raised the question of any delay with them, they said that all mail recieved is scanned & dated & its the date it is submitted which counts, I have sent the form and covering letter by recorded delivery so should be covered.
Its HMRC that are dealing with it IIRC.

They didn't give such a definitive answer to the same question to my wife.

Ye Gods! British bureaucracy used to seem so efficient compared to France. Bureaucracy: noun, excessively complicated administrative procedure.

Wrong. My pension goes into my UK building society account and I don't suffer the exchange rate until I transfer it to my French bank. Timing of the exchange is therefore in my hands. The longer you leave it in £’s it looks like the less it is going to be worth against other currencies. Don’t tell me, somebody has a cunning plan. Break the pound and get filthy Ritchie in the process.
