It's OK I found it on google # You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. # Each man that's in the side that's in the field goes out and when he's out comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. # When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. # When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out. # Sometimes, there are men still in and not out. # There are men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. # Depending on the weather and the light, the umpires can also send everybody in, no matter if they're in or out. # When both sides have been in and all the men are out (including those who are not out), then the game is finished

The team refused to sing the Iranian anthem and will be in trouble when they return. The English team would not even wear the arm bands supporting people rights, shame on them its all down to money. They should have refused to play. Why just pick on England, several other countries (including Wales) took the same decision. FIFA are the problem not the individual football associations or players.

Since you ask, yes.
Been involved in football since I was a young kid. Following an injury became a referee in England 1974. Progressed to the Premier League, included being selected to referee in the Under 18 World Cup in Japan in 2003, and refereed in stadiums used in the World Cup the year before. Retired in 2006 and then refereed in France until 2019. I am now a match delegate for the French FA.
So yes, I have quite an insight into football.

England were about to play at the time but the Welsh and the others were just as bad. With the killings at the club in America last weekend and the rule imposed by Qatar's rulers they should have all threatened to walk. They have the power to change things but changed there minds.

Players have no power to change things, if they did things would be a lot different. The powers lie in each Football Association/Federation, the continental Associations like EUFA, CONCACAF and so on. But the ultimate authority is FIFA.

You don’t try to change things during a competition, that’s whyEngland and Wales chickened out. Europe will never have the power to change FIFA policy because of the way the voting system works. The dice are heavily loaded in favour of African, Asian and S American countries. EUFA is a different kettle of poissons.

Surely Scotland would have a better team if their clubs played in a British league?

# Each man that's in the side that's in the field goes out and when he's out comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. I think that is the wrong way round, maybe it should say 'Each man that's in the side that's not in the field ....' Apologies in advance if I've read it too fast and without thinking enough and am wrong

To be honest I find the criticism about the England soccer team's 'inaction' absurdly hypocritical when the UK imports a huge portion of their natural gas requirement from Qatar and other European countries including France are investing heavily in the country. You either stop trading with countries that have appalling human rights laws in protest or 'look away' in blissful ignorance, complaining about a country's stance on homosexuality whilst buying their gas makes you look foolish.

How about we call it a draw im not playing with you three anymore. I did just listen to Southgate who now claims he does not know enough about whats going on in Iran to comment on it.
