Taken from an FB forum
3 years ago a friend's died and left the proceeds of his house to be divided between 7 of us. The house was valued at €80,000 and we sold for €76,000. We have now all received a.letter from the Tax Office, Pergueux, to say we undersold the house and that we owe tax on the difference plus interest. We are all astounded. We were told it's value by the Estate Agents so how come we are in the wrong and now owe tax? Any advice as what to do it where to go.

Mr L the last house you bought was sold for under the asking price which is not that unusual To cover yourself the notaire can write to the tax office to get there agreement before a property is sold. It's pretty rare to read about it happening.

I think inheriting from a friend in France , is pretty certain to attract the tax inspectors attention ?
