I needed a good battery screw gun and a drill but could not find anything yesterday in the sales yesterday anything good was the origional price. I do have good tools but they are a five hour drive away just now. Insteqd of Makita I went for Macalister which had massive discounts on the origional price in bricodepot. The screw gun is 18kw with two batteries it was down to 30 euros the electric drill was 15 down from 69. They both start with an M so propbably just as good

Laungauge I have to find an object to give that name to as a homage to you! The drill is not SDS so a chocolate teapot for impact drilling but I'm sure you knew that. The battery drill will have shonky cells, I know all about them But for the price you paid and the circumstances you are in they are a bargain and you must be very pleased. I use Bosch cordless and mains power tools, I bought two Chinese copy batteries that claimed to be 18ah but I wasn't dumb enough to fall for that there were only 2 rows of cells so they could have been 3ah or even 4ah if using the then 2000 Mah 18750 Li-ion cells, they had to be better than my 5 year old tired 1.5AH cells right? Nothing of the sort, they seemed to go flatter quicker than my old tired batteries with half as many cells, when I took them apart they were 1500 Mah cells so nominally 3ah capacity, except that they only did half the work that my old tired 1.5ah batteries were doing and still are today. "Buy cheap buy twice" is lost on me, I then bought some (Bosch) Procore batteries again from Ali-Express, there was a chance that they may have been the real deal, I have bought 3 genuine Bosch bare tools from Ali, an impact screwdriver, an impact wrench for scaffolding & wheelnuts and a combi drill to double up with my existing one, they were all genuine and very cheap. The batteries did not arrive, I doubt they were not even sent but i was supposed to have signed for them, took ages but I eventually got a refund so nobody can have signed and stolen them. Buy cheap buy 3 times, about 6 weeks ago I repeated the experience with another seller, these were not even shown as despached. Finally yesterday I bought 2 genuine Bosch 4ah batteries and a charger from Bosch on Amazon, they will be with me on Tuesday and were not a lot more money.

I was just looking for a drill with adjustable speed I have fifty sheets of chipboard to screw down when the weather gets better. All I have is a generator at the house, no electricity I find the drill great for screwing down the boards.

pcpa I hadn't yet noticed any name brand stuff on Aliexpress but I will look a bit harder next time. I think you were the first to point out the site with regard to kinetic light switches. I bought one thinking it was going to be crap but it has been working without issue now for several years. I went back for another last year to finish up my rewire and very pleased how much trouble it saves.
re:tools My first choice has always been Makita and still have their router, 82mm planer, and 100mm mini grinder that I bought in about 1985. They have worked hard during my 3 renovations and ten years of boat building. Everything else in the workshop is Bosch and I recon a decent second place to Makita for build quality and longevity. Sadly I no longer have a friend who manages a tool shop in UK so those premium brands are out of reach. With any luck this lot will last until I go belly up. I'm certain I will still be needing them if I last another ten years.

Each tool has been removed from the case, seperated from the batteries and charger and sold seperately as a bare tool sent in typical Chinese plastic & cardboard recycled packaging but they have all come with the original genuine manuals.
The tools are made there anyway, I think they are cheaper there and they can make money selling the bits individually and the packaging is much smaller.
The impact screwdriver came in a Bosch L box (the stackable ones) with the manuals again but nothing else.

French TVA settled by AliExpress so no Facture/Factrice asking for it plus €9 for La Poste like most things bought from the UK now.
Yes EbayUK have a procedure but it costs far too much and takes far too long with double delivery to Pitney Bowes who repackage it and send it out a second time, its cheaper and much quicker to take the hit from La Poste.

I had a look and found plenty of name brand battery powered tools there but almost all were being sold without battery packs or chargers. I was wondering if the genuine packs are available somewhere else on the site, not that I need anything myself but if people select the "ships from France" option there should be no import charges like with ebay etc. There is so little on ebay France that UK & Germany are the only ones I look at, and if I see the item I want I have it sent to a friend in UK to hold until they come over (usually months later).

@ Mysty3, if I remember well you bought a Skil battery drill, one of these, about two years ago, special offer. No (battery) problems, still doing what it is supposed to do? One of your good tools?

Not sure what make it is but think it's a skill. All my tools are in DEP 52 will go up and collect them in February. The make do ones I bought are crap burned out the electric drill using it as an electric screw gun the actual screw gun is okay for short screws but has a lack of power for 100 mil screws.

I'm not surprised it gave up being put to the (mis)use it was! My battery woes continue, even (sk)Amazon f***ed me over, the two batteries and charger were slightly cheaper as second hand items from Amazon Warehouse, I have bought similar stuff before and its been good value, its brand new stuff that has been returned, checked & resealed. My slightly cheaper 2 battery and fast charger set had only one battery, I thought the person who returned it had conned them, the package weight (printed on the label) was 600g less than it should be so I thought I would be OK, and this is (sc)Amazon don't forget with their wonderfull customer service............. Not this time, the most rude and unhelpfull person read out to me the description "may have scratches front and back, patati patata" etc then the killer "batterie auxiliaire manquante" but that description was not the one given when ordering which said 'comme neuf" it only appears after you have taken delivery. Karma will be mine though!

What added value does the belief that it is their Own Brand bring to you and what do you think it actually means?
I'm not being confrontational because some specific Parkside stuff I highly value for my own reasons and beliefs but I wanted to know what yours were.

Karma will be mine though! I stopped using it when it had smoke coming from it, not worth the fuel costs to return it. My old skil drill which has passed its best by date finished of the job, they have the speed adjuster great for screwing down chip board.
