We painted the ouitside of this bulding over the weekend. We looked at paint from 12 euros to 95 euros for 10L. I made an executive order and we went for the 12 euro one. The front and back took two coats and looked good after it dried just a bricodepot cheapest one. I did not buy enough so had to pay 29 euros locally for one that did not cover as much but is also available from bricodepot (piolet) probably spelt wrong. Anyway it was much better than the cheaper one and only took one coat. We did see paint at 95 euros for 10L its probably even better. Snow coming tomorrow morning so making a dash for home.

I used Bricodepot cheapest Pliolite for my facade back in must have been 2010, its still looking good but the Ton Pierre has a few rain stains now.
I wanted to get the same colour and texture of the original bricks so I experimented with tinting it with brick dust (from the cuts I made with a disqueuse) and then Red mortar colorant powder, the latter when painted on looked Barbie Pink, when I went to rub off the sample I had just put up (it was still wet) the powder spread into the surface and left the exact colour and texture I wanted.
I then found I could achieve the same by putting it on with a roller and then spreading it out until the roller became completely dry, like trying to finish a wall or ceiling when you have run out of paint. That made it really economical and only cost something like €30 which I think bought 2 tubs back then.
The red brick finish still looks superb, in fact even better now it has mellowed.

Pliolite is the "secret" ingrediant that give the exterior paint its durability. Without it, its just cheap paint that is unlikely to last.

Try cleaning your hands brushes or paint tray on a Sunday afternoon with an almost empty bottle of white spirit. The cheaper paint was just water based.😄
