Fridge part of fridge freezer stopped working a week ago
Single compressor - single coil.
Can't find anything like a vent inside.
Door seal is perished - but something makes me think that's not the real problem. The fridge worked then it didn't - seems a bit sudden for a seal. Strapped it closed with gaffa tape - best way I can think of to test. My partner says the power tripped the night it became obvious it wasn't cooling - but coincidence ....
What am I missing -

Iced up in the fridge bit? Especially if the door seal is weak, it may not look like a vent, any plastic bits that look like they might come off? Ours did something similar, and boy was the fridge bit iced up, took over a day to melt

Mine did something similar when I turned it off to clean it and it wouldn't restart. My seal is also buggered but I fix it every year or so with a special tape which seems to do the trick. It's integrated and a replacement is around 1k, so no way. Eventually mine restarted and I wondered if it was something to do with the gas in the condenser? I would add I'm only a girl and know nothing

What am I missing - Not much specifics to go by, but sounds like my Daewoo fridge where the freezer coil also cools the fridge part via a small vent hole between the freezer part and the fridge part and it has an electric control flap valve. The can chiller in the top of the fridge part has to be removed to find this control valve. They can be replaced easily although I cannot remember where I got it except it was an online shop. The flap makes a noise like a woodpecker in slowmo when it works so if you cannot hear that, it could be the answer. Even if your fridge is another make it could still operate the same way and be of similar design, unfortunately these flap valves are really crap.

Thanks. Yes I've seen those flap vents during the search. I know there has to be something ..... But it's just smooth plastic.
It's a basic whirlpool - I'll have another go at finding the parts diagrams

Not the issue in thos case given the weather but its worth pointing out that most if not all of the "Coolwall" type fridge freezers stop working below 10°c, its cold enough that you may not notice the fridge contents perishing but when you open the freezer compartment it will all be defrosted.
It happened to me this year in the sous-sol and I had to get the caravan fridge freezer back into service, that uses over 20 times the electricity of the modern one but at least it works.
Back in Picardie I had to leave the heating on so that the fridge would not defrost, its a crazy world!
Interesting re the flap, my new (last year) fridge freezer freezes OK but the fridge part has always been a little to warm especially in sumer, I will have to look to see where the cold comes from and if there is a flap or duct.
