This has always been going to happen as part of the ETIAS but has just been picked up by certain U.K. newspapers as a punishment for Brexit.

I’m really looking forward to it, it lasts for 3 years and for multiple visits, removing the need for visas.

This is hardly breaking news and shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone in the UK.

I’m really looking forward to it, it lasts for 3 years and for multiple visits, removing the need for visas. From the article: In general, visas are required for entry to EU countries for non-EU nationals. But a visa is not needed for visits of up to 90 days in an 180‑day period for nationals of countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement. That includes the UK, the US, Canada and Australia, among others. At the moment for instance, British passport holders who do not hold a residence title in an EU country, can enter Europe for short visits and tourist trips without having to pay a fee or organise a visa – although Covid restrictions have made travel a lot trickier. The EU Commission said the ETIAS will not change “which non-EU countries are subject to a visa requirement and will also not introduce a new visa requirement for nationals of countries that are visa-exempt”.

The system will also note when someone enters the Schengen Zone and when they leave. This will make keeping track of their 90/180 days much more straightforward and there will be no need to stamp passports.

Full details of ETIAS including a diagrammatic of how it works, how to use it, www.schengenvisainfo.com/etias/However, just because you have the ETIAS does not necessarily guarantee you entry into the EU countries. This is at the discretion of the border authorities.

Oh dear, it seems that I’ve got the wrong end of the stick, really awful news - so apparently I will need a visa to travel as often as I did previously and wish to continue doing. Really sad news. Definitely a continuing brexit bonus. 😟

Brexit, the gift that keeps on giving. £43.68 - £7 = a net gain of £36.68 per year for a UK tax payer. That is not bad result for voting Brexit. If you don't go to the EU.....you have saved £43.68 per year thanks to Brexit. Buy a few pints as in pints. Brexit is winning here.

I don't know where your forty odd quid comes from but a month's groceries has risen by more. There is no positive to Brexit.
