I have a new mobile and after thinking for the first few days the learning curve was too steep for me, I'm gradually learning its tricks and beginning to appreciate its improvements on the old one. One big BUT. With the old one I could text in French or English and it would predict in both languages. But this new one is multilingual it seems which makes texting slow and arduous as I have to keep correcting. Any suggestions please? It's using Android 12.
Also, my fingers seem to have got fatter! I s'pose there's no way of enlarging the keyboard? Tried turning it sideways but then it's a big stretch to either side.

On my keypad to the left of the space bar I have a globe like symbol. Using this I toggle between the three languages I use. These three languages are set in my keypad preferences in settings. My phone is android as well.

Mine is a Samsung android about a year old but no doubt a different version, I have set language to French but with English as an additional languge, might be the other way. It predicts what I write in both languages, the more letters I type the more likely it is to predict in the language I am typing thta word, - I write in Franglais mostly!
The advantage to me is that I dont have to go to sub keyboards for accents, when it predicts the right word I just click on it.
Something chnaged in one of the settings recetly and it stopped predicting in French, then I saw the keyboard had changed to QWERTY, I had been typing and not even realised, I cant recall wjat setting put it back but the bilingual predictive spelling returned.
It sounds like you need to deselect multi-lingual (if it will allow it) and select both english and Frnehc languages, maybe swopping the primary one if it helps.
sorry for any typos.

Got it! There was another keyboard setting I hadn't come across so I've been able to choose French and English. Thanks. It predicts what I write in both languages, the more letters I type the more likely it is to predict in the language I am typing thta word That's exactly what I had before and what I wanted. It's so useful.

It is indeed!
Can you remind me what the setting is for when I next mistakenly chnage it or the thing does it itself?

Can you remind me what the setting is for when I next mistakenly chnage it or the thing does it itself? Would you believe I can't find it! It was well hidden. Will try again later. I know it also let me choose azerty or qwerty keyboards for each language so I chose the same for both to keep life simple.
