This is the type of Brit I have to deal with on a daily basis. Our landlord's washing machine started leaking so after a brief discussion he agreed to buy a new one, when I looked at the back it had a hot and cold feed rather than just a cold feed which is normal here, I therefore asked 'did you bring it over from the UK' to which he replied 'No, England'.

Why don’t you start a thread "Dealing with troublesome little englanders"?

Nice bath and not bought from bricodepot. Was it under 1000? The bath was €700+ and its column tap €300+.

I have spent less on materials including the new front door than you spent on your bath

Glad to see I'm not the only one doing calculations on the wall.

Glad to see I'm not the only one doing calculations on the wall. Isn't that what they're there for 😃

Main things to be done now are painting of walls and change the door. Should all be finished at the end of May.

We had 5 months in a gîte while found our new place - all our belongings save for the essentials were in storage in England. I soon realised the removals men had packed our camera.. and all our books except one ('Out of Africa' - I read it 3 times in the 5 months) so we have no 'before and after' photos to show you.
We had a group of retired Basque artisans working on the house and in two months they worked wonders. They'd arrive at 7.30am - work through until midday - no tea or coffee breaks - then lunch - and then through to 5pm. They were there at 7.30am on Boxing day.

It does take a while to absorb that Boxing Day is just another day. In our early days here my OH had a medical rdv with a Specialist at 9:30 on a Boxing Day I remember we were astonished.

But they make up for it with all the Saints days and other holidays.. I don't think they realise how lucky they are.
