I wonder how long it will last though as we are planning to go, if quarantine free in September. Also is it a bit of a play on words, as they say "people returning from France" does that also mean expats who are visiting family and not really returning? www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58079107and, the big question will the UK government accept double vaccines that are not NHS?

It’s fairly clearly explained for once on the HMG website, you’ve just got you find the right bit(s), - there is no play of words as far as I can see.. “France update from Sunday 8 August If you arrive in England from 4am Sunday 8 August, and you are fully vaccinated in the UK, USA or Europe, you will not need to: quarantine on arrival in England take a day 8 Covid-19 test You must still book and take a day 2 Covid-19 test.” Rules updated last night

Do we need a PCR test done in France for U.K. entry still? Yes, you still need a negative pre-departure test (can be antigen or pcr) and you still need to fill in the passenger locator form.

These are the rules for England www.gov.uk/guidance/red-amber-and-green-list-rules-for-entering-england#amber-list-rulesBefore travel to England Before you travel to England you must: take a COVID-19 test – you must take the test in the 3 days before you travel to England book and pay for COVID-19 tests – to be taken after arrival in England complete a passenger locator form Fully UK vaccinated and people under the age of 18 – amber rules You do not need to quarantine or take a day 8 test after you arrive in England if you are either: fully vaccinated in the UK or under the UK vaccine programme overseas under 18 on the day you arrive in England and resident in the UK or in a country with a vaccination programme approved by the UK part of a UK-approved vaccine trial You must have had your final dose of the vaccine at least 14 whole days before the date you arrive in England. You still need to book and take a day 2 test.

Elsie, my understanding is that only one test is now required in UK, not a second one if coming from France. Thus predeparture test and passenger locator form and test after two days in UK, no eight day test.
I have copied a bit from the UK gov. site which is more up to date:
France update from Sunday 8 August If you arrive in England from 4am Sunday 8 August, and you are fully vaccinated in the UK, USA or Europe, you will not need to:
quarantine on arrival in England take a day 8 Covid-19 test You must still book and take a day 2 Covid-19 test.

Am I right in thinking travellers coming from UK to France fully vaccinated just need the declaration form and proof of vaccination and no test required on that journey, just the return to UK?

FWIW whilst the HMG’s presentation of info on the internet has improved there are still some traps due them being slow to update some sub-pages… You’ll still find examples this AM that state France is Amber plus in some of the links that spur off the main “rules” page.. ….

France goes a green when cases in France are now sky rocketing and lets be clear all regions in France will go balastic when people get back from holiday.
Ummmm....who is in charge in the UK ? LOL.
We have a trip booked next week to the UK which we will cancel. I am not taking a PCR test in France and then again day 2 in the UK....at £85 squid a time. That is 255 euros before we even start.
So back to Med for us. Loverly sandy beaches and proper Pizza.
I think you would be mad going to France from the UK this summer.
If your PCR test goes red in France you are stuck. The same the other way around I guess.
Not worth it.

As I understand...(we are all vaccinated...kids and all) 1) PCR test before travel (France) not a problem. 2) PCR test day 2 in the UK....problem. I am not paying 85 squid...X3 Also (someone commented on another forum) that you can get a bit of hassle in the UK if you are driving a French reg car. Given I have a new car, I really don't want a scratch down it. Back to the Med for me. See what happens in Tousaint.
