We have had three different weather stations all with radio time displays. They could be set up to include an offset to allow for time zones and all worked well. I think they picked up a German clock signal, even in UK. Our workplace office clocks, bought cheaply from Farnell or Radiospares, were definitely controlled by the Rugby signal and could not be offset.

Whilst we're on the subject of time pieces, do any if you own a light powered watch? I have had Citizen ecodrive watches for a decade or more. My husband had 3. They charge from light, any source, and each charge lasts up to 6 months, but as long as you leave it near a light source they continually charge. No changing batteries.
I've had one for over a year. Can't adjust to comfortable fit on wrist but otherwise it works fine.

I have a clock that I was going to bring out to France this week, then remembered it is a radio controlled model that gets a signal/pulse every so often for accurate time. Does anyone know if northern France gets that signal (from Rugby in the UK I believe) Or if not, is there a similar system within France and will this clock work with that signal?
The UK time signal comes from Cumbria.

What sort of strap does it have that it can't be adjusted?

What sort of strap does it have that it can't be adjusted? It does say that it cannot be adjusted to a comfortable fit. I have Tank watch that does not fit comfortably, neither of the supplied straps fit well, they are either slightly loose or slightly tight, making another hole in the strap is not really an option.

I understand what is being said perhaps you would be better with an expanding strap. Or position it differently.

What sort of strap does it have that it can't be adjusted? It's a metal link band with one adjustment hole on one half and two on the other half. I can get it too tight or too loose. The attachment to the watch body is specific to the watch so no alternative is possible.
I previously had battery driven quartz watches. The first lasted ten years before the battery failed so I bought another, identical, watch but that battery failed after five years. I have since replaced both batteries and the watches are working well and keep perfect time between cross channel adjustments. If it wasn't for the scratched mineral crystals I would have continued to wear one of them.

I have several devices some on UK time signal and some German. All can be adjusted to UK and CET.
I also have a mini gps mph or km/h speedometer which can be adjusted through all world times zones in half hour steps. How do they do that for £15?

I thought I would go upmarket and bought a kinetic energy watch, they keep going by your body, arm movements, transferring the energy to the mainspring, brilliant idea only if you are fit and healthy and young and go for thirty miles jogging before breakfast then yes it will stayed wound up, if you are slow paced knackered old f*** like me it doesn't so every evening I have to wind the ****** thing up then in the morning to wind it up again, isn't technology moving at a fast pace.

Am I missing something with RC clocks, what is the problem?
I have two here in Southern Spain but TBH I neither know nor care whether they synch with wherever or not as they are both pretty accurate timekeepers in their own rights.
Sure I might have to tweak them a couple of times a year when the clocks change or if the batteries need changing but I couldn't label that a hardship.

So in answer to my original question, yes it does pick up the signal from Cumbria in Mayenne, so I removed the clockface and advanced the hour hand by an hour, so it now tells the correct time in France

Ours would cooperate for a short while, then one of us would go into the bathroom and back it had gone to UK time! It’s now a year since we had to suddenly return home, so I expect the battery might have runout by now, definitely didn’t replace it during our last visit - it almost felt as though we left before we arrived! 😄

gigi yes I hope so, I don't just wind the clock on an hour as that would only work temporarily like you say, you have to hold the minute hand still, and advance the hour hand without allowing the minute hand to move, that way you have mechanically advanced the clock 1 hour.......I hope that makes sense, you have to be able to access the actual hands on the clock to do this.
