I have a clock that I was going to bring out to France this week, then remembered it is a radio controlled model that gets a signal/pulse every so often for accurate time. Does anyone know if northern France gets that signal (from Rugby in the UK I believe) Or if not, is there a similar system within France and will this clock work with that signal?

A friend in the UK was given one by one of his German suppliers. Everytime he tried to set it to UK time it went back to European time.

Why not bring it out and see ? The worst that can happen is it won't work. I have 2 bought here - one French French and the other Lidl German/French so they do exist here and they are really not at all expensive.

I’s take it and try it, Johnny.
We’re further south than you, but our radio controlled clock doesn’t keep European time, although we used to try it. It has sat on the bathroom shelf for 15 years and we automatically adjust the time in our minds.

We bought one in Germany maybe 20 years ago and it always defaults to German time. Not a problem as long as we take an hour off the displayed time.
Or look at my watch!

I have one that connects to a German time site. Although it does not every time!
The only time I really notice it is when the clocks change, and to prevent waking up the wrong time I turn off the connection for that day, and then turn it back on.

I have bought several from Lidl France at 7.99€ each. I have taken the motor and receiver from each and fitted them in our existing clock cases.

See the table from wiki and check the frequency used by your clock in the instruction manual or do a search surf for the clock's operational data. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_clock

Whilst we're on the subject of time pieces, do any if you own a light powered watch? I have had Citizen ecodrive watches for a decade or more. My husband had 3. They charge from light, any source, and each charge lasts up to 6 months, but as long as you leave it near a light source they continually charge. No changing batteries.

Remarkable - I had not heard of them before mangetout - how fascinating. If I didn't have a fitbit-type watch then your kind of watch would be of interest to me. But I find my 'montre connecté' useful in many ways and, altho it needs charging daily, I usually do this when I remove it to have my daily shower.

I don't wear a watch of any kind, or carry a phone. Can't say it is any kind of handicap. One of the perks of being retired I guess.

I too haven't worn a watch in 17 years. I do have my phone if I need to accurately know the time, but usually know to within about 15 minutes what the time is.

I didn't wear a watch for over 30 years before I was given my smart watch but now I am not late for a rdv .. so there are some pluses in wearing a watch.
