Round here, (47), Orange are sending salespeople to do a presentation at the Mairie. I checked their site regularly to be told that only ADSL was available but apparently fibre has been an option for some time. The rep offered a 'special, one-day-only' price pm and free installation. We declined and when we got home and checked, it was actually dearer than Orange's standard deal Also only applicable for a year and with a minimum year's contract! We're quite happy with our Sosh package and will only switch over nearer to the copper cut-off date. Why pay twice as much when what we've got now is quite adequate? We've just had very similar, our French neighbours have called saying there is an Orange Salesman trying to sign us up to Orange Fibre on a special one day only deal. We are also with SOSH and pay €19.99 per month for approx 70mbs so very pleased and we have what believe is above ground cables in the road leading to our house so we believe we have it already after they installed it some 18 months ago. They sent him away and said he was very polite, it doesn't make sense ! Following on from the above I have learnt a bit more, apparently we do not have fibre just a much improved ADSL link, there needs to be two cables coming to the property to achieve fibre, we can have fibre and it is a free connection through Orange and the monthly charge goes up to €30.99 but speeds of 400 mbs are potentially achievable but we are happy at the moment paying less as it is our second home and are only there for about 3 months a year.

speeds of 400 mbs are potentially achievable This was quoted when fibre became available here. Potentially. Beware! I had gone for 4G mobile signal internet when I moved here (don't know the technical term) because the ADSL in this area is incredibly slow even though I'm in a small town. Delighted when they said fibre would soon be available as I thought it would be faster and cheaper. It's cheaper but slower. Sometimes goes down to 11 mbs in the back bedroom and cuts out completely fairly often, just momentarily but enough to be a nuisance. I wish I'd stuck with my 4G. I'm with SFR but fibre is fibre isn't it, whoever you're with?

What people need to understand is that claims of "speeds up to XX" are not a guarantee that anyone will get anything near those speeds.
They are just enticements to get people hooked into a contract. Falling short of even a quarter of those speeds will not be an excuse to get out from under the contract.

We get a theoretical 300Mb .. and I can get to 280Mb on my nearly-new mid-range mobile using the Livebox wifi if I am anywhere near to the box and my OH is not upstairs on his laptop watching a video.
Your 300 or 400Mb is for the property not per piece of equipment .. so the WiFi is shared between all who are using the Internet at any given moment.
Next door Mr watches Orange TV on his biggish screen downstairs whilst Mme struggles to watch her Orange TV through a décoder upstairs. He is thrilled with fibre, she says nothing has changed as far as her TV viewing is concerned.
My v old laptop probably needs the WiFi card driver(s) updating to benefit more from being in the same room as the Livebox. I must pluck up the confidence to try that. Even so getting the current 50/60Mb instead of the 6Mb of before is an improvement. Especially as we are paying exactly the same as before. Well less as I cancelled the 5€ per month to ring mobiles from the fixed phone. We mostly all use WhatsApp/ Signal to ring each other here in France .. ditto to speak to family in the UK.

So no one with Bouygues. I have two complaints. The first is I'm still on the old copper wire and when there is an orage anywhere in the vicinity there's no point leaving the TV on.
My friend Jean-Luc lives in the next street and SFR put in fibre 3 years ago. Where we lived before we had Orange, glad to be free of them.
The advantages of Bouygues are many, huge number of sites, we don't use pay to view. BBC/Sky, Murdoch speak (it's still the same mentality) Spanish/German/many Arab news channels. Music - the excellent Inter Mezzo/ Stingray Brava and Stingray Classical. With these two music channels I get loads of Jazz/Ballet both traditional and modern and 5 other music channels - Urban/Trance and 3 others which are nothing for me and all the French regional channels. With the landline I get free 24/7 international to 80 countries and of course mobile unlimited in Metropolitan France. It's just gone up to €34.99 p.m.
Worth checking out Bouygues if you are not happy with your present provider, if I had fibre I would be totally happy.
