Well, not really in, but falling down into the fireplace!
Our fireplace (unused) in one of those built to order (by previous owners) with a glass front.
Anyway every June, (not before or after, until now) at least one (sometimes two or three) bats topple down onto the floor of the fireplace. This year we thought we had a reprieve, but last night (5th July) we heard the noise of one arriving.
A few years ago we put a bat box at the end of the house well away from the chinmey but it has not stopped them turning up!
Any body have any solutions to deter them from the chimney please?

Could you scrunch up some chicken wire or such like to put into the top of the chimney pot?

I wish I could get to the chimney pot, even my long ladders cannot get there.

These are almost certainly young bats.
Having been born (in your case in the chimney) they hang onto the walls, climbing onto mum to suckle and then back to the wall.
Once weaned, they learn to fly the easy way. They let go. If it doesn't work then end up on the floor (or fire grate). This will explain why it is the same time each year.
If bats migrate for the winter they will return to the same roost year after year.
Your only solution is to somehow block the top of the chimney. As suggested a wire mesh would be a good solution provided the mesh size if very small.

Would a drone entreprise be able to poke mesh into the top of the chimney? They seem to be the solution to otherwise inaccessible places  |

I had need of something vaguely similar a few years ago - and it turned out that a few members of a local mountaineering club specialised in reaching odd places. If there's a club near you, it might be worth a shot.

Or ask an understanding chimney sweep. I expect many have dealt with this problem before.
