Trieste, do not feel sorry for posting this and finding it incredible.
Its the norm, unfortunately, in many deprived areas.
The majority of posters on here would not have experiences or knowledge of such issues.
Its the expectation/norm of the overall majority of UK population.
Sad.

Part of me thinks that 9 years is too long, on the other hand, the victim was less than two years old, so maybe 9 years is right. I would have given her 6 years, and no doubt there will be an appeal against the sentence, but prison is what she deserved, anything else would make a mockery of the criminal justice system.

Sorry, but that's bollocks! Even in the most deprived areas it is not the norm to leave a child of less than 2 alone and unfed for almost 6 days.

I think nine years should mean nine years. In fact, nine years is nothing for such a terrible thing imo. Six days alone for a two year old is worse than inhuman.
Yes, I suppose presenting a Daily Wail clip is a red rag to a bull for many f the forum members, I almost chose the Torygraph version which probably would have been more popular.

I dont understand the discussion. 18 year old woman kills her child, deliberately and gets nine years prison. What excuses can we find for her, what justification? Cant think of any, personally. Her act seems to have been conscious and deliberate, she has family who could have been informed, taken the baby, I think.
What else is there to say?

Apparently it is seen as ‘normal’ for many of the posters, isn’t life sad……

Normal to leave a toddler to starve to death or to get a substantial prison sentence for it?

Mine was a serious question about which aspect was unbelievable, the duration of the sentence, or the fact the crime was so hideous, but as usual here the same trolls are out in force trying to demean us all here......

I find the whole thing incredible, the crime and the sentence.
I recall a case years ago, maybe twenty years ago where a mother went to Majorca for a couple of weeks or wherever with her boyfriend leaving her three kids in a flat to fend for themselves, the oldest kid being about nine. Now that’s bad but at least the kids didn’t starve to death.

I was born in one of the roughest areas of Newcastle Upon Tyne and lived there until I was 20, so don't include me in your statement, you have no idea of peoples backgrounds on here ..........
