It'll be a bit blowy down here in 47 too. Gusts of 60kmh we can do without!

Shouldn’t be a paywall, wasnt for me when I read the original. Le Figaro doesn't like it if you refuse cookies - so it protests .. but the article is still readable.

I woke to an ominous creaking sound at 6am, then a loud thud. One of my very large Acacia trees snapped half way up. That's going to be a fun job. My garden is full of very large mature trees, despite having had nearly 20 removed over the years. I just hope no more come down.

It's blowy here but the projection is for much stronger wind/gusts this afternoon.

So far only a small dead twiggy bit blown off our willow. We have some very tall pines that will be at risk if it really blows hard.

Oh no, and they are really nasty to handle with their long, needle-sharp thorns. We have high winds and heavy intermittent showers but as far as I know, no trees down. Biggles just left to go for an appointment and clearly wasn't blocked by any fallen trees on our 300m drive.

Acacia or false acacia (Robinia), mangetout? Robinia are known for being brittle and thorny. Fingers crossed nothing else succumbs. It's the fruit trees here that are most at risk. Laden branches get ripped off so easily. A baby apple tree is already down to one branch from it's original three.

Here in Brittany(22), we have been kept awake all night with strong gusts of wind, lots of branches on the ground this morning, just been to the local supermarket and on the way there was evidence that small trees had come down and neat piles of wood by the side of the road. We took down a large silver birch just over a week ago as it had no leaves on it, good job we did as it was rotten in the middle and when it hit the ground it shattered, it would of definately of come down today and the way it was leaning it would of taken out the power lines to the road.
There is currently constant wind but every 15 minutes or so there is a huge gust, I don't know the speed of the gusts but you struggle to walk against the westerly wind. My OH declares it is a good drying day but what she hasn't taken into consideration that our rotary airer might just take off...

Our large apple tree in the chicken area has nearly split in two. Whole thing needs to taken down ☹️

I just hope next doors trampoline doesn't make another unwelcome visit...two of our garden chairs just went 50 yards down the end of our garden. It is really the occasional strong gust that is doing the "damage"
