I woke to an ominous creaking sound at 6am, then a loud thud. One of my very large Acacia trees snapped half way up. That's going to be a fun job. My garden is full of very large mature trees, despite having had nearly 20 removed over the years. I just hope no more come down. Sorry to read about that - is it in a place where it can be left for insects, insects, lichens and fungi? |

Our meteo was warning of severe coastal events today, risk of flooding in harbours and dangerously high waves…. |

I managed to cut all the side branches off and pull the trunk to behind an outhouse using a tow rope attached to the car. It will be left there to rot. |

It was windy .. very windy, but nothing like we experience later on in the year or in February. The gusts only got to 75kph here. There doesn't seem to be any damage .. or rather we didn't see any on our travels. The waves were high but not gigantic and some wind/kite surfers were out.
I think our area has escaped the worst.

I just hope next doors trampoline doesn't make another unwelcome visit...two of our garden chairs just went 50 yards down the end of our garden. It is really the occasional strong gust that is doing the "damage" This happened to us back in 2016 here near Dinan Brittany, we had just bought a large trampoline with sides on it for her Birthday, she was at school and I was press ganged by OH into assembling it the day before so it was ready to use on the morning of her birthday, put it together fairly quickly and hid it down the garden so she couldn't see it when she got home, whilst having lunch I saw it tumbling down the driveway, luckily not causing any damage to our cars the wind was only 28kmph, it wasn't damaged but held it down with 25kg sacks of sand before fixing to the ground in its intended destination on her birthday. |
