I feel sad about this. The poor thing is isolated and showing no symptoms for the last 4 years, but he's to be euthanised. Link

I do have the utmost sympathy for the owner who has bonded with the guy/guyess?
Unfortunately the greater good should be taken into account after all avenues have been explored.

I read this and was really upset. I love alpacas and llamas. Was wondering if he could be disappeared. In mainland Europe you could just put him in a truck and drive him to somewhere out of the way.

I'd love to have him but suppose he would have to be checked by authorities,so doubt he would be able to cross the waters 😗

Only in UK can people get so uptight about an animal.

If it were a scraggy hyena that was the subject would there be the same reaction. I think because it looks cute hearts are ruling heads

How come no-one stands up for bovines who are dispatched after a positive test result. If you extrapolated this protective behaviour and started a campaign every time a bovine was due for the chop, can you imagine the chaos that would ensue. It's only because he's fluffy.

I watched an alpaca farmer say today that after 4 years with 2 positive tests, if Geronimo did have TB he would've been dead by now. This farmer also had an alpaca test positive 2 years ago so was euthanised. However further tests since the death have shown earlier false positive results which are now negative. They kept some blood samples apparently before the animal was PTS.

I am sorry but it is an animal (one) against the damage he or she or it could do on an island.. Take no chances.
Do not or does not one person here on this forum use "plague island" in his footer.. Mad cow disease. Just to refresh your memory as to why this one animal should not make you worried. This has just been picked up by the gutter press or on a slow news day and broadcast to you poor souls for pity but rules are rules.
Just leaving the EU the UK does not need another episode of their meat not being exportable.
Everyday 100s if not 1000s of animals are killed everyday within 100 miles of most of you.
