The French government has put online a tool allowing people to add a watermark of their choosing to their most important documents in order to avoid identity theft.

You click on a link and follow the instructions; download the file as a PDF with your watermark added to each document.

It’s suggested that documents such as identity cards, driving licences, proof of address and passports could be made more secure when people need to send them in order to rent or buy a property or when hiring a car etc.
