I have lots of Hazel trees, the damn things pop up everywhere. In our first few years here we tried harvesting the nuts but they were always infested with worms. Little holes made in the outer shell to lay eggs I presume. This year the nuts are free of worms and I'm enjoying the fresh nuts. But the flip side is that the insect which used to benefit from the nuts is obviously on the decline.

Or they could have developed a nut allergy. ☺ I thought it was still early à lot of trees have lost the nuts to the wind.

I didn't know you could loose your nuts to the wind. That's it, no more beans for me.
