Couldn't agree more, Nutty. If you persevere there comes that 'Road to Damascus' moment when you realise that you're thinking/listening/responding in French without converting it into English. The problem in this area for newcomers is that it's just too easy to go with the Brit flow, live in the Brit bubble and pretend that you're still in Wiltshire (or wherever) with an improved climate

I feel very fortunate that we only have an acre Good heavens, we only have 1/4 of that and sometimes find that it's more than enough. I'm struggling with 2 acres but that is the price I pay for having no next door neighbour problems.

We had 20 hectares +.I didn’t struggle. At first. Then I began to wake up and discovered that the road to Damascus is paved with dreams that could turn into nightmares. Even though our closest neighbour was about 300 yards away, he was a very spéciale problem.

I believe it was just a one-off available In English, French and German. I thought I had found one in German with the couple who had the butcher's stall at Eymet market but could not find it in English.
