In our very touristy area they have tightened up again on mask use in the town square and surrounding streets...entrance to the night markets are only with the pass sanitiare and from next week obligatory for restaurants and cafes.

A self confessed troll! Note to self "add to ignore list". On discovering French forums, my very first post on FE (I asked an innocent question)....I got trolled to bits. I was ripped apart. You reep what you sow. So the moral of the story is, if someone comes onto a forum and asks an 'innocent' question....be nice. Talking of which (slight drift thread) what happened to my best friend Celtic Rambler ?

I suspect the easing of measures has had as much of not more impact than the holidays. I also suspect the numbers will start to fall in a couple of weeks. Vaccination is progressing at a good pace and it is mainly younger people and unvaccinated contracting the virus who need hospital treatment. Soon the %age of the population vaccinated together with those who have immunity via contracting the virus will give it just the unvaccinated as a host and it will revert to low levels of infection

I spend a fair bit of time on the west coast of France and the difference between pre tourist season and now is huge, the place is in full holiday mode. Nobody is talking beyond his knowledge yet again. I don’t know what the mask wearing and distancing is like in the south but where I go masks are the norm and people in general take a lot of care, it’s reassuring to see. Photos I’ve seen of SW England are more worrying, huge crowds and hardly a mask in sight. It seems like your life is just perfect; where you go, what you eat, where you live, etc...
Please give us a blueprint so we peeps can follow....

Whatever anyone thinks of him, Nobody's comments are not the most reprehensible on this thread. In any case, play the ball, not the man.

If you are an expert on my life you will know that I do spend a lot of time in the West coast of France. What’s your problem? I’ve made good choices in my life including where I live and the car that I drive but I’ve never said that other people should live where I live or drive what I drive, I’m sorry if your life has been less successful but that’s your problem not mine. I can’t ever remember commenting on what I eat.

Here in the Pas de Calais we get a lot of visitors, including short trip ones, particularly from the Nord and east. It is noticeable that the covid infection rate shoots up just after they have gone back but then gently slips back down again. This is particularly noticeable over long weekends. The locals have been very good about masking and blame Les Lilleois for spreading the virus.

But each version lives in very different places. Just saying.

I spent a long time preparing to move to France and life here, where I’ve always been by the way, is pretty good. Reading posts by others who live in less ideal situations makes me feel lucky. Again, do you have a problem with that?

Back to the main subject, I read an article in the Obs a bit ago that showed a close geographic relationship between covid cases and percentage of people voting RN...
