Hmmm... Retired from Germany, drives a Golf GTi and has some family in Cergy Pointoise. I have met you a few times on forums. But each version lives in very different places. Just saying. Please don’t confuse somebody who is very happy with his life with someone wearing rose tinted glasses. I spent a long time preparing to move to France and life here, where I’ve always been by the way, is pretty good. Reading posts by others who live in less ideal situations makes me feel lucky. Again, do you have a problem with that? I have always wanted a pair of rose tinted glasses. They sound cool. They will match my Doc Martins's. Spliff, beer...rave. Plenty of illegal raves going on in France at the moment that I could go to. (Keeping the thread on track). Do you know what, I have never read a post where someone is in a 'less ideal situation'. I am not even sure what a 'ideal situation' is. I am intrigued to know what is a 'less ideal situation' ?

We get the message, you don’t like Macron, but your other points don’t hold water. Typical ALBF all mouth no knowledge. But you need to explain why they don't hold water. Or not. That is your choice. But it works better if you do. BTW..ALBF is dead. You are now talking to me 'as in me' not a facade I created to wind you up. So you now want us to take you seriously after you created a facade to wind everyone up?

Read between the lines; his style and presentation may be crup but he has a view that is very different from most expats because he is married to a Frenchie and trying to bring up a young family here.

That’s part of the problem; in theory he has so much to offer forums like this but history has shown that he’s only been interested in peddling controversial and inflammatory points of view, more often than not giving unhelpful or bad advice. It’s fine for the people who know his ways and take anything he says with a large pinch of salt but for newcomers his posts are potentially harmful.

Engage him, refine him, make him better rather than writing him off. Use your superior intelligence to form him into a reasonable and reasoned human being.😜

After possibly eight years of enduring his posts there’s no chance of that.

I hope this forum does not become a reincarnation of FE and the other one where people just spend there days personally insulting each other.
Because if I was not here, lets be clear you would just find another victim to lay into. Give FFS a break after all his hard work creating this forum.
I hope also that you might touch on French issues rather than concentrating your anger on Boris and Brexit. It's boring as hell.
Try and learn about the country you are living in. It is actually very interesting. Politics, economics, social economics. Learn from peoples experience.
The only posts that DB has made in the last 24 hrs are insulting. Some others also. Largely because he does not know France and can't engage in any 'French' debate.
Now let me tell you, I have been a member of another French forum for the last 8 years. An international one. Mostly people outside the EU. I never been banned. Been told off a lot. But so has everyone else.
We talk French issues. Most people have lived in France as long as me. Some longer. * There are many French memebers.
The majority of 'discussion threads' are about real political/social issues facing France. Sometimes the debate gets out of hand and the MOD closes the thread. No one insults each other we just move on to the next discussion issue.
But also, a lot of people come on and ask questions. Sometimes very complex questions. And we all try and help if we can. We also learn from each other.
That is, a French forum.
DB joined a few years back and starting his little rants and was banned within a week. FE member joined a normal French forum. It was never going to work.
Stop being British. Be more French in your approach to Forums.
So I say goodbye.
* There was a French member of FE who then went to that 'other' forum and you banned him. LOL....maybe it is the French thing that bothers people.

Good choice, au revoir wouldn’t have been enough.

It’s so boring when posters think that it’s necessary/clever/fun to respond to one another in such terms as on here - I’d hoped that people joining in discussions on this new forum would be a but more able to hold their tongues/fingers.
It’s that sort of carping on that makes posters stay away from forums or just not join in discussions.

It does take 2 or more to make an argument and it must be very difficult to not respond to personal insults when they start flying.
Whilst "A friendly place to be for those living in, or interested in, France and all things French" is the aim, I do have a great interest in what is going on in the UK especially as all my income is from there as is my family - it was a strong reason for getting a CDS.
I also suspect that a lot of 2nd home owners are not particularily interested in French politics, indeed wish to avoid further political gossip.
I accept that I will never truely integrate within French society and so forums like this do give practical information and insight into France for us immigrants to France.
For those who harp on about having to fully integrate and get involved with this and that its not for me.
For those holier than thou, then do absolutely have threads about french politics etc, but please do not ram it down the necks of those who want to talk about UK politics etc. and are perhaps less committed than yourselves.
It is indeed an english speaking forum isn't it?

I wanted to write something similar after reading the post, but did not have time, nicely put, I do also try to keep an interest in French politics as much as time allows me to……..
