Seeing the beautiful avatar of deebee's cat Monty made my stock avatar look so ugly that I finally decided to replace it with a photo. My pets were first choice but I don't have a photo of them all together and couldn't choose just one so I ended up with flowers. Cosmos Sea Shells. (Very easy to follow instructions BTW. Thank you.) I need to transfer photos from my phone to the laptop before posting my pet photos. In the meantime, maybe someone else could start the ball rolling ... ?

Mod plea : As we are a free forum we have v limited storage space and I am constantly removing old photos to keep us within our permitted total limit of 200MB.
So, please keep your photo size as small as you can - 250Kb is a maximum size really. Less than that would be good. If you need advice then there are members who can help ..

If anyone wants to reduce photo size, use Irfanview : www.irfanview.com/It is free, and can do loads of stuff with photos. If anyone uses it and cannot work out how to reduce photo size let me know (it is very straightforward).

imageupload.io/knxHFqVR6GIiCg9This isn't quite what I intended but is good in that it takes up no forum memory as it's hosted elsewhere. This is Mama and her boy Tabby, newest arrivals chez moi just over a year ago. Mum + 3 made their home in the courtyard of a nearby bar when the kittens were about 6 weeks old. Mum struggled to find enough to eat as we're in a town. All of the cats were captured over a period of two days and brought to my spare room . The runt of the litter was so tiny and the last to be captured. We thought she had died but she's a survivor. I decided from the outset to keep Mama as she has a bad eye and would be difficult to adopt. Ended up keeping Tabby too as they were so attached. Mama looks a bit cross in the photo but she's a lovely cat. Took a while to trust me as it seems her previous owner no longer wanted her once she became pregnant. Tabby had no such trust issues and was funny and affectionate from the outset. His 2 sisters have been adopted into good homes and all cats now sterilised and microchipped. I do like happy endings!

Thank you, crabtree. It does look good but I honestly find it difficult to get used to new programmes now even if they are straightforward. I used to have a set of Serif programmes, Page Plus, Photo Plus etc which I pretty well mastered and thoroughly enjoyed using. At the moment I just want to make my pet photos smaller in size before I post them to tinypic. But when I say say smaller, I don't mean mb/kb but sq cms so they're not huge photos like my first one. Do you know a simple way to do this please? I have Windows 10.

A window opens with lots of options to manipulate the photo, one of which is 'Set New Size', and you can change the width and height of the photo.

I was about to post one but it seems we need an Http: something or other. Not as easy as other sites.

‘Are you a human being? We apologize for the confusion, but we can't quite tell if you're a person or a script. Please don't take this personally. Bots and scripts can be remarkably lifelike these days!’
Good question. I was beginning to wonder.
