Wondering if they'll make it before the first frost. I'm at a loss to understand what's gone wrong. I started them earlier than last year. I followed Monty's advice to cut off the tops a few months ago to make them fill out but not all of them. Google suggests the soil is too rich. Absolutely not the case in this garden. They're in 3 different beds, one of which is in full sun. There I noticed this morning for the first time one tiny bud! Fingers crossed I get a few blooms before visitors arrive on the 22nd.

Ours flowered but not as good as past years. The big disappointment was that we grew 6 morning glory from seed and have only 1 flower

Sorry to read that, Jardinière - hope some do get going for you and your visitors - the 22nd is a week on Friday!
it’s a pity about your morning glories, Ajm, they really are glorious in flower!

A few of mine have been reluctant to flower too but the majority have been ok. I don’t cut the tops off and they have still filled out nicely. I’m sure yours will come into flower soon. They have such a long flowering season I’m sure you’ll get the benefit of them for a few months to come yet 🤞

Just been reading a gardening forum I belong to and this very subject came up! Lots of people are having the same problem, could be down to erratic weather?

My guess is that the summer temperatures have been too hot to provoke the normal plant growth. Now things are cooler and wetter, I hope things will get back to normal.

Some friends of mine in London despaired of their cosmos, and threw nearly all of them out a couple of weeks ago. Then the few that they had kept, in a flowerpot, burst into flower!

Just been reading a gardening forum I belong to and this very subject came up! Lots of people are having the same problem Fancy that! I feel a bit better now. Some friends of mine in London despaired of their cosmos, and threw nearly all of them out a couple of weeks ago. Then the few that they had kept, in a flowerpot, burst into flower! That makes me hopeful. I'll keep you posted.
