Hello all. I am in need of a UK SIM Card (or at least a UK mobile phone number) Other than for UK Banking SMS messages, this will only be used on rare occasions and only for phone calls or texts (no data) Have had a good look around but come across problems with roaming, fair usage, shipping etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance

I've joined GiffGaff in the U.K., which gives me free roaming in Europe. £6 a month.

Roaming is intended for short term use like holidays or business trips so if the sim is not used on a regular basis in the UK you may find that roaming will not work.

I have a giffgaff SIM ( use the Order a free SIM option) but I don't pay any regular any of the monthly calls/data options. All I do is add credit, minimum £10, which is used up when I use the phone see the pay-as-you-go rates www.giffgaff.com/pricing. The credit doesn't have an expiry and the mobile number is retained as long as I make at least one call/send an SMS every three months (they even send a reminder). My last credit top-up was Sept 2022. I had my SIM sent to a UK address and forwarded but I see the order form does have a dropdown for other countries so they may send to France? Note giffgaff only have physical SIMs not e-SIMs

Try 1p Mobile it is part of EE, 1p text, 1p per minute call time, I don't know what it would be from Europe and presume it would have to go to a UK address, if you use £2.50 worth of calls/texts a month there is no charge but if you don't they will take £2.50 credit - what you have used. Looks like is 1p from France to UK- Scroll down to the 2nd section for calls and texts from France to the UK' www.1pmobile.com/international-and-roaming.taf

I have been with 1p for three years as has my wife. The £10 top-up payment is required every four months although there is also a £30 for one year option which averages at £2.50 month. However, the credit remains in place until it has been used up. It is not deducted on a monthly basis.
Currently, I have £8.90 credit and the next top-up is due in May 24 because where I have previously used all my credit within the four month period the next four month top-up adds another four months to the previous top-up date. Appears complicated but the account interface is very easy to use and provides a full history of use by month or day.
We use our phones in France regularly at 1p minute roaming. On my last visit 1p was showing 74mbps on 4G so no restriction imposed. However, if necessary, I use a Huawei mifi and Smarty sim for data roaming in France as 1p at 1pMb is far too expensive

I have just got a Tesco mobile 10 GB NoContract 10 GB fitted into my OH’s old mobile that she gave to me so that I could make contact with her. After struggling trying to get it to work it seemed as though it was installed. I have just tried to make a test call with it. No connection, Has anyone any solutions other than take it back to Tesco.

Have you set up data roaming on your phone? Also, do you have a good mobile signal and if so which provider appears at 5he top of your screen?

That is what we are trying to do.
Follow instructions but no activation code is returned.
have tried reinserting SIM card x 2. Na da.
I think it could be something to do with a bad signal but am told ‘ It’s not that’
latest message from phone Calls temporarily unavailable
I could be just a glitch and unfortunate timing.
