Hi Gigi. I just checked that you had been online today and I'm really glad you have. There's a news statement about a lady travelling from Heathrow to Nice yesterday who sadly passed away during the flight and I immediately thought of you. I know you were travelling to France but not when. So so glad it's not you, and so sad for the grieving family.

How kind of you to be concerned about me, and yes, truly terrible for her family.
I flew in to Marseille on Tuesday; I should have been on a plane at 10.10 on Monday but BA cancelled at about 05.20! I arrived at the apartment around 17.30 - later than planned because our plane (which was due to take off at 07.10) was late taking off. I’ve played Wordle etc a couple of times since arriving.
it’s a very good thing I did fly out, as not only is there 15 months-worth of dust - the residence has an airflow system, so dust builds up quickly, but I found that the base of a bottle I took out of the cupboard under the bathroom washbasin was wet. When I removed everything I found that there was not only a leak, but there was a faint whiff of damp.
Luckily the plumber we’ve used previously is able to come to fix it this evening, but if I hadn’t found it when I did it could have been much worse. It’s a small leak from a joint just above the u-bend, but he may need to take the fitted unit apart………..
Thank you again for thinking of me.

How long are you thinking of staying ?

Welcome back Gigi, did you not turn off the water at the mains before leaving ?

Welcome back Gigi, did you not turn off the water at the mains before leaving ? Thank you, Norfolk. Yes, we turn the water and electricity off each time we leave - we’ve a check list. It occurred to me earlier that the leak could only happen when Mark, who checks our apartment each month, visits; he turns both water and electricity on, runs the taps, flushes the toilets and opens doors and windows to air the place a bit, as well as checking security. So it’s a leak limited to once a month. But the base of the basin unit was wet and the various bottles and jars had pretty soggy bottoms, so although a limited leak, it was a fair amount of water - and the base of the unit is slightly distorted, and could only have become worse. Anyway, M. Laqli arrived at about 17.30 tried to stop the leak but couldn’t, fitted a new part, tidied up, charged €25 and went on his way to the person he already had an appointment with when I phoned him yesterday.
