Our village "homme à tout faire", who does various jobs for us, has just retired from his main agricultural job and has invited us to a pot d'amitié from 17h30 in the village salle. I imagine it will be aperos. He was delivering copies of his handwritten invite to various others in the small village.
If it were at his house,we would take a bottle of wine. We aren't sure if we should do that as it is in the Salle de Fêtes. Would it be normal to take a bottle?

Take a good quality bottle but present it as a present to take home and not just drunk during the event. Maybe a bottle of scotch would make it more memorable.
