Thérèse Coffey is the UK minister responsable for the Environment plus other things. According to her the Environment Agency wasn’t well enough prepared for the flooding in Scotland due to the wrong kind of rain. Apparently rain sweeping in from the west is different to that sweeping in from the east. From my experience of growing up on the East Coast I can concur that rain from the NorthSea is definitely drier than that coming from the Atlantic. Well done Ms Coffey, you are a complete moron.

The rain from the West is wetter than rain from the East, thats why Lancashire is known for its Cotton industry, as it needs to be kept moist otherwise it will break, while over in Yorkshire it was wool that was king, dryer rain.

I believe where I was brought up and lived for a few years, East Norfolk is supposed to be the driest part of the UK. Those nasty north-easterlies used to push the rain clouds inland which is why West Norfolk is much wetter than the east.

It's not just the rain. The level of humidity was more important for the cotton industry especially when it wasn't raining
