Some time ago I ordered something (can’t remember what) of quite low value on the internet via one of the Chinese suppliers. I never got it, but did get a gold love ring with fake certificate. Demanding my money back, I was faced with the Hong Kong barter. First they offered a discount of 10% then when I rejected the offer it went up to 50%, rejecting this came up with 70% and I keep the ring. I gave up and accepted hoping it was a real gold ring.
Recently I bought a heater from a Dutch company. I ordered a stainless steel unit and the website said 30 days for trouble free return ( giving certain conditions) the heater arrived and was the wrong one being galvanized and not stainless. It came from their Paris depot, so a European company?. Not so. Now begins the Hong Kong barter again. First 10% discount for the inconvenience, then 50% and keep the galvanized heater. ON YER BIKE. Next 75% or a new (unspecified) heater. Now I contact the credit card company for assistance and email the supplier my demand for a full refund and cost less return of the old unit and my charge of €5 a day for storage and return after the cash is back in my bank. Today after 11 days of emails, they offer a full refund, but no mention yet of returning the old one.
Maybe not a European company after all. The goods were clearly marked made in China so it all rings alarm bells
This company sells an enormous variety of goods and tools and is called V****
The small print, which I read, did say for returns, their technical team would assess the situation and arrive at a mutually agreed solution, but what technical investigation is needed for the wrongly supplied heater?
Anyone else been confronted with this sort of scam? They make a box load of cash if people dispair and accept the short change.
