I have been taught to stop any machinery before going near them for whatever reason.

These robots are scary, my friend is a distributor for a Swiss company selling robots to the UK, they can think for themselves, speed up operation and even carry out repairs and maintenance on themselves whilst still doing the jobs they were programmed to do without being programmed to do that... spooky
edit- the other day one of his robots installed in a packing plant in the UK, sent an email to the manufacturer in Switzerland ordering a part it needed, the first thing my friend knew about it was when the part arrived...

I have been taught to stop any machinery before going near them for whatever reason. But at some point you need to switch it on to test it.
