This is not well linked to the posts that I have made concerning the maintenance of the grass outside our let. We have paid a sub for it over the past three years and it has never been done properly, well, what can expect when historically it hasbeen cut my mendicants equipped with a small walk behind lawnmower mower and when they turn up, as they have done very irregularly, but spend more time drinking beer than cutting grass. What is perhaps surprising is that the landlord is an established lawyer!
Well, he wants to sell, or has sold the block of appartements. Two contractors pulled up outside this morning in a truck equipped with a medium sized tractor mower and strimmer and are presently cutting the grass, very long at the back of the apartments. I do wonder though, it has rained very heavily over the past few days and the grass is wet and the ground is waterlogged. not the best time to cut grass, but, things look to be moving in the right direction. I wonder if the contractors will do a Swazeneger and be back?
edit. About half an hour has passed and the contractors have reloaded the tractor on to the truck. I cas hear a stripper in operation. A preliminary glance outside reveals that the area by the wheely bin/letter boxes looks as if a rugby scrum has taken place there. The French have such wonderful timing. More news after I have inspected.
#2 Contractots have left The inspection can wait. It is like a paddy field out there. I have taken a picture of the scrum area, but I don’t think that it will show that there are clippings left lying on the ground.

The French are not known as a nation of gardeners Anybody trying to cut grass in the current conditions (at least here in the SW) wants their brains testing and deserves to sink in the mud without trace. I've not been able to cut our grass since October but it's better left long in order to soak up excess water. Take care if you do inspect, Nifty. Wear non-slip shoes, take ski-sticks and read up on methods for extracting yourself from quicksand/mudsprings The last time I slithered down to the veg plot, I left my wellies 30cm down in the 'soil' and barely escaped with my life

I have done all the inspecting that is going to be done until it dries out from the windows of the apartment. I will reserve further comment till next time. If, they come again. Ar least it looks a bit better better than it did.

The French are not known as a nation of gardeners You can say that again, when we first bought back in 2003 I thought it best to buy a French lawnmower so servicing and maintenance, "warranty/guarantee " could be done locally with no hassle, couldn't find one, all there was available were brush cutters and strimmers, every now and again you would see an "old boy" driving with a small trailer with a mower in it, which initially baffled us but soon we realised that a large family would purchase a small mower between them and the Uncle/Grandfather would travel to each of the families houses and cut the grass (not lawn).
