Anyone have any thoughts of the declining quality of the TF1 lunchtime news since Marie-Sophie Lacarrau was given the job of presenter?
Jean-Pierre Pernaut was obviously a very difficult act to follow but how on earth did this brainless bimbo with the grating voice get the job?
TF1 had and still has Jacques Legros who was the perfect follow on for JPP but was passed over and now we only see when MSL is on one of her many holidays.
Also TF1 has other fine female presenters like Ann-Claire Coudray.
MSL manages to trivialize serious news articles but today she managed to include a disgusting feature on wrestling. Plumbing new depths.
TF1 going the same as BBC R4 Today and PM.

I’m sure M-S L doesn’t have any input on the programme content so it’s pointless blaming her. I don’t have a problem with her though I do find the choice of content rather up and down. I find FR2 more consistent with what’s going on in the world. We normally watch the headlines on either channel then switch over to No.8 where WAM is on weekdays. An interesting lunchtime magazine with lots of different content. The timeless William Leymergie is currently shacked up with the lovely Sophie D’avant, lucky sod.

We will have to wait until we return to France in April to give an opinion. In the past we have always been impressed by the high quality presentation of the main news from all the channels but TF1 in particular. My chief criticism has been the pathetic attempts on TF1 to generate real time subtitles that look like a professional company has been involved. It does not even come up to the standards of most of my degree students’ course work. There is no excuse for such poor performance.
