I have just read in The Times that the entry/exit system for the EU is to be implemented on 6th October next year. The last I had heard was it had been in so much trouble that it wasn’t expected to be operational until 2025. I want it up and running to preserve my passport’s visa pages.

I have to admit to not knowing what the entry/exit for the EU is to be honest?

It only applies to non-EU residents and a handful of other European countries. The EU are trying to control unwanted immigration through their borders. If it does get implemented from 6th October 2024 all visitors will, on their first entry to the EU, will be fingerprinted and photographed and the information stored on data base. Subsequent visit should only involve an electronic interrogation. The long queues will mainly be for the initial data acquisition. One advantage to the EU is to have a precise monitoring system for the dreaded 90/180 limitation on standard visitors like me.
