Did anyone else watch the BBC sports personality of the year?
I used to really enjoy the programme but now find it rather flat. 2 of the 6 'nominees' couldn't be there in person but they weren't the 'chosen' one by the 'people'.
Probably Mary Earp was a deserved winner but not at the top for dress sense.

I didn't watch SPOTY but I saw a photo of her dress, mostly hidden behind the trophy. Wondering what on earth she was wearing I had to google it, and have to agree. Weird.

A top goalkeeper and a superb role model for young women. What was Frankie Dettori wearing?

Who cares what she was wearing? I find it odd that so much onus gets put onto sports women’s choice of dress. My grand niece is a keen and talented footballer and wants to play professionally and these kind of role models are important to the likes of her.

Our granddaughter is a brilliant runner. At the age of 11 she can outrun girls (and most boys) 2 or 3 years older. As erstwhile distance runners both OH and I encourage her as much as we can. The issue is her mother who is one of those people desperately into her looks, dress etc. She doesn't like her daughter doing sport, she'd much rather she was practising make-up or rooting through the shops for pink and fluffy girlie-girlie shit.
So it's no real surprise that sportswoman can feel judged by factors other than their ability.
That's not only sad, it's reprehensible.
